The OP starts the post by describing a whopping 8 inches of snow that had made shoveling quite the task

Font - Posted by u/topathemornin 3 D 2543 443 Neighbor took my parking spot after I shoveled. I poured water in his windshield. It was a cold winter day. 8 inches of snow had fallen the night before, and the windchill made it feel as if it were in the negatives (Fahrenheit). I drive an all wheel drive SUV so I have no issues getting out. My wife on the other hand drives a Prius, which slides with the smallest amount of moisture on the road. My car was down at the time, so we had to take my wife'

Don't mess with this person's parking, okay?

Font - I went inside and filled two gallon jugs of water. Went back out and poured them on his windshield. Rinse and repeat. I must have poured about ten gallons of water on his car. Being how cold it was, it was already freezing by the time I poured the last gallon on. It sat like that overnight. The next morning, I got to watch as he helplessly tried to scrape all of these layers of ice off his windshield. Don't take my g parking spot. Edit: you guys need to chill. This isn't r/AITA. I'm not l

People shared their own stories of snowy revenge, plus advice for snow days in different areas

Font - My dad used to love going christmas shopping so he could walk down a random parking lot isle that was two over from his spot. Slow down and get his keys out, wait for someone to throw on a blinks and then cross two lanes to get to his car. It would drive people insane. My dad was crazy.

Font - onefourtygreenstream This is why Chicago has dibs. Disregarding dibs will often result in a broken windshield.

Don't mess with Boston parking spaces!

Font - n8loller That's an aggressive form of those laws. Boston has it so you're allowed to place spot savers after you've dug out a spot for a certain length of time. Dig out your space, leave, put a cone or chair or something else in the spot, and no one else is supposed to touch it. Not really sure how enforceable it is, but most people follow the rule. Really, most people just don't move their car until they absolutely have to in these conditions.

Font - Mad_Murdock_0311 They do this in Boston. I used to work up there doing electrical work. During the winter it's sometimes impossible to find parking at/near a jobsite. One time my boss told me to go move the chair that was in the parking spot. I told him that someone busted their ato shovel that, and I'm not moving it (besides, I'm all set getting stabbed over a parking spot). F city living.

However, not everyone thought the OP was in the right here...

    This is a great point!

Font - Vakz That's such a weird rule though. So if you've shoveled a spot and then you go away for the weekend no one is allowed to park in that spot? Because how would they know you're not just gone for 15 minutes?

Font - CORE keemo57 I think it is funny. People don't care about anything but themselves. Your neighbor needs this lesson.

Font - ResentThis What is wrong with all these commenters. Who drives into a parking lot covered in 8 inches of snow and thinks the one spot cleared is open game?
  • 19
Font - orad It's very much a "house rules" sort of thing. I grew up in Montreal and all spots are fair game. I then moved to Boston where they do this weird "I called dibs" thing. Both systems have their pros and cons, you just need to follow the rules everyone else is following for it to be fair. That's probably why the comments seem so divided.

Font - Pizzampras Dude. I live in a snow prone area.. This is so satisfying to read. NOBODY was hurt, you got to WATCH your revenge unfold. This is perfection. Don't let these people bring you down!

Seems like in the end, this neighbor should have had more common sense about his fellow neighbors

Rectangle - Repeat Offenderp Fully justified. That was a blatant violation of the code.
